Kamyana Mohyla National History and Archeology Reserve

Not so much in the world are monuments to be organically combined in a unique natural and historical value. Such a place is located only 20 km north of Melitopol on the picturesque banks of the River Dairy, near the village of Peace. This is a state historical and archaeological reserve "Stone Grave".

The reserve is located on the right bank of the Dairy, near the village. Patience Melitopol district, covers an area of ​​15 hectares, where the sand hill - a unique monument of ancient history and culture (3 ha), and nature - balance sarmatian Tertiary epoch (14 million years ago). This huge accumulation of sand blocks away extraordinary phenomenon, which analogues of Neogene strata of rocks known Ukraine and the proper interpretation of a similar accumulation there remains a mystery.

14 million years ago Sarmatian sea retreating, bared sand hill, which over time turned into a solid monolith. Under the action of sun and wind and rain began to crack hill. Large boulders slowly began to slip to the ground. As a result, stone tomb was formed many grottos and caves.

These tips are always attracted people. Various ancient Paleolithic tribes hunters era brass and bronze, and later steppe nomadic Cimmerians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Huns and other tribes settled near the stone tomb, using it as a sanctuary. Priests before every important event raised on ancient slopes for magical rites.

In 68 grottoes and caves concentrated large keel bone ¬ petrohlifichnyh systems - unique specimens of primitive art. More than 3,000 images from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age and later create a unique gallery that can be comparable only to the Hermitage. There is in this "gallery" Grotto of the Ox, which is depicted on the plates drawn by oxen, a plate "tracks" with pictures of human feet (and, even there), "horse" plate with the image of horses in Europe with the first riders on them, and some petroglyphs cars, boats, wildlife, solar signs, hunting scenes and more.

Based on research, scientists have shown that stone tomb - a powerful emitter of energy. At the top of the hill are 5 stones with positive energy and only one - with a negative.

At various times visited the Tomb of Stone High Lama of Nepal, famous explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau Ocean, the President of Ukraine VA Yushchenko and other representatives of national and world elite.

Recently Reserve became the true center of archaeological and historical studies in Kiev. Every year since 1932 is conducted archaeological expeditions that allow to discover new monuments of ancient cultures. A unique phenomenon was the opening of the oldest on Earth, the so-called "protoshumerskoyi writing", which can be represented in international exhibitions in the world.

The first information about the memo appeared in 1778 during the Russo-Turkish War. Survey "Stone Grave" were prominent researchers: NI Veselovsky, A. Bader, VM Danilenko, J. Rudynskyy, VM Hladilin. In grottoes and caves are concentrated many petrohlifichnyh systems - unique samples of original art.

By sandy hill adjacent virgin steppe of relict and endemic plants are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

Every year the park serves more than 50.0 thousand visitors, including many foreigners. "Stone Grave" is located near the Azov Sea coast and has every reason to become an international tourist destination in southern Ukraine.

In 2006, through sponsorship of JSC "Electric plant" Dneprospetsstal "in building museum complex" Stone Grave "was invested 2020.0 thous.

Since 2008, the reserve is funded from the state budget. The activity of the institution by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine according to budget request and meet the identified needs. In the overhaul of the building museum complex "Stone Grave" openly funding in the amount of 800.0 thousand.

As on 05.11.2008 only mastered 501.0 thous., Including:

- The contract with the corporation "Tavriyabud" paid advance payment for the purchase of material resources 207.7 thous., Signed an act of the works amounting to - 259.7 thousand UAH.

The corresponding work on developing the plan of the reserve, on which according to the estimate of income and expenditure for 2008 provided funding of $ 120.0 thousand., Now mastered 97.2 ths., Including:

- Surveying - 1.6 ths.,

- Mapping - 18.7 ths.,

- Services rendered for the development of the plan according to schedule of the amount of 76.9 thousand. By the end of this year, funds will be used in full.

Reserve by certification of cultural heritage in the amount of 4.95 thousand.

To increase the tourism appeal of the reserve is included in domestic and international tourist routes as an object to visiting members and guests of Euro-2012.

Since 1986, the Reserve led a famous scientist, honored worker of culture of Ukraine Boris Mikhailov D. that his research raised the institution to the world level. In 1996 the name Mikhailova BD as a famous scientist today introduced to the encyclopedic reference book "Who's Who", published in Italy (Valkomonika), and in 2000 - the International Directory of people of the twentieth century "Life is glorious", published by the American Biographical Institute in the U.S. Congress. In 1991, for significant contribution to the Museum of Melitopolschyni Mikhailov BD awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture," in 2008 was awarded the Order "For Merit" third degree.

Historical and Archeological Reserve "Stone Grave" was established under the authorization of the Council of Ministers of Ukraine of 20.03.85, № 15237/62, letter to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine from 19.03.85 № 9th-255/9 and the Order of Culture of Zaporizhzhya Regional Executive Committee from 12.02. 86 number 44.

In 2007 the reserve "Stone Grave" made the list of nominations by UNESCO as the oldest monument of culture and history of mankind. In the same year the reserve was given the status of the State.

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 06.06.2007 № 808 in view of exceptional scientific value, cultural and natural values ​​of the complex archaeological sites "Stone Grave" announced by the State Historical and archaeological reserve and Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine 05.12.2007 № 1094-r referred to public property.

Decree of President of Ukraine of 10.09.2008 № 815/2008 State of historical and archaeological reserve "Stone Grave" was granted the status of National, 22.10.2008 received state certificate of permanent land use for the number 116637.

Taking into account national and international importance of the complex archaeological sites "Stone Grave", the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine was initiated by introducing an object "Archaeological Complex" Stone Grave "to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In preparation for nomination dossier object "Archaeological Complex" Stone Grave "for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List by following measures:

- In 2006 the object included in the previous UNESCO World Heritage List;

- Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine of 26.01.2011 № 22/0/06-11 approved Master Plan for the National Historical and Archaeological Park "Stone Grave", establishing the boundaries and areas of interest (buffer zone);

- Area of ​​15 hectares of attractions offered to the application, determined by the State Act on the right of permanent use of land by the National historical archaeological preserve "Stone Grave";

- Fellow of the reserve prepared by bibliographic and historical information about the reserve.

Now researchers Reserve continues to work on the Nominating file object "Archaeological Complex" Stone Grave "for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
